JOB TITLE: Histology Aide

DEPARTMENT: Histology

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Histology Department

HOURS: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm

POSITION SUMMARY

The Histology Aide works to complete case assembly of H&E slides sent via courier to surrounding doctors and locations. Helps change out processors, maintain logs, keeps track of slides going out, and file blocks/slides.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Compile all paperwork for daily casework.

• Scans slides to proper locations.

• Answering e-mails.

• Change processors and maintain logs.

• Practice’s safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.

• Communicates irregularities and errors to Pathologist Assistant, transcriptionists, Supervisor, Pathologists, and Histology department as indicated.

• File blocks/slides when available.

• Prepare embedded blocks for microtomy.

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education/Certification:

• High school graduate or GED is required.

• 1 year of relevant laboratory experience preferred.

• Computer skills

• Organized, Accurate, and Dependable.

TRAVEL AND HOURS

• This position is full-time, Monday through Friday.

• No travel is required with this position
